Located at Cintra Street is De Tai Tong Cafe, it has been there since I was a little kid. For most Penangites, it needs no introduction. What makes Tai Tong so special? The Dim Sum, of course, and the elderly waitresses in their 60s skillfully manueuvering the push carts fill with dim sum in tight and difficult corners. They are always shouting out their orders in Cantonese which actually makes Tai Tong interesting to dine in.
I really could not find any fault in the dim sum they serve. They also have fish head noodle shop but I am not a great fan of that. For me, this is indeed the best dim sum place in Penang. Everything is just perfect, the food and the shouting makes you feel like you are in a Cantonese kampong…..Love it!!!!!
Do not miss out the Lor Mai Kai and the best egg tart.
Dim Sum is available from 6.00am – 12.00pm, ala carte from 12.00pm – 3.00pm and dinner starts again from 6.30pm – 11.00pm
